To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 1:2
I used to wish that I lived during New Testament times. I wondered what it would be like to attend church in the early days of its existence. Then I read Paul's New Testament epistles and discovered it was a lot like church today! As we begin a study of Paul's two letters to the Corinthian church, I hope it will seem more like a family portrait than ancient history. I am praying that we will:
- Be encouraged that the struggles we face as a church are not new
- Understand that the Holy Spirit empowers us for service
- Increase our own desire for holiness
