God of Second Chances Discussion Starters

  • June 2022 Issue

We hope these questions will help you consider (or discuss with others) what God is teaching you through this month’s study of His Word. We’ve left a bit of room to write down your thoughts as well!

  1. What does it mean to you when we say that our God is a God of second chances?
  2. What were the consequences of Adam and Eve’s sin?
  3. When Joseph was called upon to interpret the Pharaoh’s dream, why did he say he couldn’t do it? (see June 3)
  4. What do we learn from the story of Joseph and his brothers about second chances? (see June 4)
  5. Why is humility and forgiveness essential for second chances?
  6. When we sin, we show that we “despise the word of the Lord” (2 Sam. 12:9). How are you “despising” God’s Word with your actions? (see June 9)
  7. In what ways have you acted like Jonah? Who is your Nineveh? (see June 11)
  8. Whom in your life is God calling you to forgive and why is it difficult for you to forgive that person?
  9. Why did it shock people that Jesus chose to dine with sinners? (see June 19 and 24)
  10. Why does God give people a second chance? When has God given you another chance?
  11. How does being forgiven change our relationships with others? (see June 21)
  12. What are a few ways we pass judgment on others? (see June 25) How can we do a better job of following Jesus’ example of extending hope and forgiveness?
